Red Star made a display of strength in its first game of the new ABA season.

ABA League reigning champion Crvena Zvezda began the 2021-22 season by crushing KK Split 97 – 61 at home. Six players scored in double figures for Red Star was particularly dominant after the first quarter to close halftime up 53 – 29 and then simply expand that margin.

Nikola Ivanovic led all scorers with 20 points while also posting six rebounds, six assists and four steals. Stefan Lazarevic had 13 points, Maik Zirbes finished with 12 points and six rebounds while Austin Hollins and Ognjen Kuzmic dropped 11 points apiece and Nate Walters scored 10.

Sani Campara had 10 points for Split.

Crvena Zvezda’s next game will be for Round 1 of the EuroLeague regular season. The Serbian side will travel to Istanbul to face Fenerbahce Beko (1/10) and its former player Marko Guduric.
