Partizan Belgrade has been struggling so far in 2024, getting beaten also in the Serbian Cup Final.

Partizan Belgrade coach Zeljko Obradovic assumed responsibility for the 85 – 79 loss of his team to archrival Crvena Zvezda in the Serbian Cup Final.

“I took responsibility, I told the players that,” Obradovic said. “Some of my limits have been exceeded, in the sense that I cannot influence the players. I will seriously think about what we will do and how we will proceed. We are lucky that we have this break.” Due to February’s 2025 EuroBasket Qualifiers, Partizan won’t play any game until 29/2 when they will face Anadolu Efes in EuroLeague.

The defeat in the Serbian Cup Final was just another episode in a series of disappointing results for Partizan during the last couple of weeks. The Serbian team comes off a 2-6 skid in the EuroLeague that has dropped them below the Play-In zone and has fallen to the third place in the ABA League following an upset to Split at home.

“I am absolutely aware of my responsibility,” Obradovic added. “When the team reacts in the key moments of the game in the way it does, without any criticism for their combativeness and desire, then the responsibility goes to the man who should teach them that and ensure that they are calm. Obviously, it doesn’t work and is repeated in quite a number of games”.
