Partizan moves to ABA semifinals with Ponitka’s double-double

Defending ABA League champions will face Buducnost im the playoff semifinals

Partizan Mozzart Bet is through to the ABA League semifinals after taking down Igokea 2-0 in the quarterfinal series.

After winning at home, Zeljko Obradovic also defeated Igokea at Laktasi, advancing to the semis with a convincing 80-101 road win.

Zach LeDay was the winning side’s top scorer with 20 points, but Mateusz Ponitka took the spotlight with a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds for a team-high PIR of 28.

James Nunnally was also on the verge of a double-double with 14 points and nine assists, while Bronu Caboclo scored 14, and Uros Trifunovic 13 points for Partizan.

Goran Filipovic stood out for Igokea with 27 points, but only Kosta Kondic managed to follow him with 24.

Partizan will meet Buducnost Voli in the best-of-three semifinal series, while Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet is leading 1-0 against SC Derby, as does Mega MIS against Cedevita Olimpija.
