Gordic and Buducnost make the 2-1 vs. Crvena Zvezda

Buducnost VOLI leads once again in the ABA League final series after a comeback and thriller finish of the third game.

Buducnost VOLI defended the break they made in the first game and recorded a 78-77 win against Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade in the final seconds. The Montenegrin team now leads 2-1 in the ABA finals series which is played in a best-of-five format and will have a chance to end it in the fourth game which is played on Saturday 14th of April.

With thirty seconds left in the third game of the series, Buducnost had a one-point lead after Nemanja Gordic scored from the free throw line but Crvena Zvezda had the final offense in the game. First James Feldeine missed an uncontested 3-point shot and then Mathias Lessort couldn’t put it back in after an offensive rebound.

The Montenegrins had five double-digit scorers with Nemanja Gordic leading the way by scoring 17 points while Zoran Nikolic added 12. On the other side, James Feldeine scored a game-high 19 points in addition to Alen Omic’s 18 points.

The first half of the game was balanced as neither team could build a significant advantage. Buducnost led most of the time but Feldeine with 14 points (4/5 behind the arc) in 20 minutes pushed Zvezda to go on the break with a five-point lead (47-42). The guests had no trouble scoring inside the paint after pick and roll plays as they were 13/15 (86.7%) form the two-point territory. After the break, Buducnost toughened up the defense not allowing easy points in the paint and took over the lead after Ivanovic’s 3-point shot on their last offense in the third period bringing the game to an interesting finish.
