Crvena Zvezda’s coach Dusan Alimpijevic took the blame but also had a few things to say about the, in his opinion, unfair criterion in the ABA League finals series.

Buducnost VOLI became the first Montenegrin team to win ABA League after a 3-1 finals series against Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade.

On the press conference after the game, Red Star coach Dusan Alimpijevic  took the responsibility for the loss but he also noted what he considered as a possible deciding factor of the series. “We couldn’t play any game the best we could, we lost the title in the first game when we lost in Belgrade. Look, of course that people will say that Buducnost beat Crvena Zvezda five times this season”, the coach stated before explaining what he meant.

“But you see, Taylor Rochesite shot five times from the free throw line in the whole series. That is, to be exact, seven times. He shot two times instead of James Feldeine when he was forced to leave the game. So, Taylor Rochestie shot for the whole series five free throws. Compare the free throws of Buducnost and Zvezda in the two games here.”

In the end, Alimpijevic summarized his words and his impression of the finals: “My personal impression, and I always start from myself… It’s my responsibility. But my next impression after that is that Crvena Zvezda couldn’t win this title. It absolutely couldn’t win this title. That is my impression.”, the coach strongly noted.
