Partizan Belgrade beat archrival Crvena Zvezda 75 – 72 at home in the ABA League Round 7 derby. It was the fifth win for the hosts and third loss for their opponents.

Chris Walden led Partizan with team-highs 13 points and seven rebounds while Nemanja Gordic added 12 points and four assists and also scored a key 3-pointer down the stretch.

Gordic drained the 3-pointer for the 72 – 66 with less than four minutes remaining and after Red Star had come back from a 12-point deficit in the first half. Ognjen Jaramaz made 1/2 from the line for a three-possession, 73 – 66, advantage, but their opponents cut the margin to 73 – 72 with a minute left.

Both sides missed their shots and then Marcus Paige hit a pair of free throws with five seconds left. Filip Covic, Zvezda’s top scorer with 14 points, turned over the ball and his team didn’t get a game-tying chance.

Michael Ojo had 11 points and six rebounds for the visiting squad.
