Tornike Shengelia scored 21 points, including a key 3-pointer in the last minutes, dished out seven assists (an ACB career-high) and grabbed six rebounds for 34 PIR as Baskonia beat Iberostar Tenerife 79 – 72 to capture its second win in a row in the Spanish ACB League final phase.

With 1:52 to play, Shengelia hit the triple for the 77 – 68, thwarting a Tenerife comeback attempt from down 17, 65 – 48 late at the end of the third period. Coach Txus Vidorreta players approached 77 – 72 but then Sasu Salin missed a 3-point attempt to make it a one-possession game with 15 seconds left, essential sealing the game’s outcome.

Giorgi Shermadini registered a double-double of 18 points plus 11 rebounds while Nick Zeisloft and Salin had 13 points apiece for Tenerife that is now 0-2.

Micheal Eric, Luca Vildoza Shavon Shields and Ilmane Diop dropped 10 points each for Baskonia.

Earlier, Barcelona downed Malaga behind Nikola Mirotic’s 19 points and Joventut Badalona outplayed Bilbao in overtime.
