In contrast to previous installments, the X Costa del Sol International Tournament will present only two teams facing each other with host Unicaja Malaga taking on Real Madrid on August 29. The previous editions brought multiple teams to Malaga for prep games ahead of the next season.
The ongoing effect of the coronavirus pandemic limited the number of participating teams. However, a limited attendance is projected for the 2020 Copa del Rey finalists friendly rematch marking the return of fans to sporting activities in Spain for the first time since health protocols were implemented.
Per Unicaja Malaga: “Unicaja will face Real Madrid at the X Costa del Sol International Tournament. The Diputación de Málaga will celebrate the tenth edition of this competition to bring elite basketball closer to the Málaga fans. It will be a unique game played between Unicaja and Real Madrid on August 29th at Carpena, reissuing the Copa del Rey final, held this 2020 on the same stage.”
