The Spanish Liga Endesa couldn’t fulfill its hopes of starting the season with an audience in the stands, however, the main stakeholders are beginning to raise their voices calling for the return of fans – even if only in a small percentage.

Alex Mumbru, the coach of RETAbet Bilbao Basket, also talked about the fact and he believes that there have been inconsistencies or double standards in dealing with the safety and health protocols.

“It is strange that there can be a concert and that 5,000 or 6,000 people may be in Miribilla (Bilbao Arena), at 50% capacity, but our audience cannot come to the stands. Or that the other day we traveled to the Canary Islands and we were sitting on the plane, we were sitting next to each other but the government doesn’t allow 50% capacity in the arena, that would be one seat full, one empty. Those are things for which you do not know if they are a public health or an economic matter. It would be good if, with an important protocol, because health comes first, with a reasonable distance, people could come (to the arena),” Mumbru said and added.

“We play for the people and it is important that they can come and see us as soon as possible. In a percentage that is possible, but I think it is important that people can join to watch professional sports.”
