Valencia storms back for the third win in six ACB matches and Joventut Badalona wins at the buzzer

Sunday ACB Regular Season Round 7 action will bring in the two 5-0 teams, Real Madrid and Iberostar Tenerife. Saturday games included Valencia getting back on the win column at the domestic level and Joventut Badalona dropping TD Systems Baskonia.

Valencia – Casademont Zaragoza 93-84

Bojan Dubljevic led his team past a sluggish start to a 3-3 domestic tally with 21 points. Martin Hermannsson banked 16 more and Nikola Kalinic 15.

Dylan Ennis made out a game-high 22 points but was not enough for the visitors.

Baxi Manresa – Coosur Real Betis 93-81

Makai Mason sank five threes pouring 21 points overall and leading the team coached by Pedro Martinez to the home win. Seth Hinrichs threw in 15 more points and pulled down eight rebounds.

A team-high effort of 17 points by Youssou Ndoye highlighted the losing side.

Joventut Badalona – TD Systems Baskonia 83-82

Ferran Bassas knocked down the game-winning three as time ran out making it to 19 points. He also made nine assists. Ante Tomic fired in a team-high 23 points, including seven in the thrilling fourth period.

The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague outlet saw Pierria Henry put up a game-high 24 points but to no avail.

Acunsa GBC – Urbas Fuenlabrada 72-100

After dropping to 0-5, Javi Juarez’s team got in the win column in a big way. Marc Garcia registered 21 points and Melo Trimble 20.

Viny Okouo posted a team-high 14 points for the losing side.

Unicaja Malaga – Iberostar Tenerife 79 – 86 

The trio of Giorgi Shermadini (22 points, seven rebounds), Aaron Doornekamp (22 points) and Marcelinho Huertas (16 points, 10 assists) led Tenerife to its sixth win in six games. Txus Vidorreta’s squad prevailed over Malaga on the road and is one of the two unbeaten teams in the league, along with Real Madrid.

Alberto Diaz (19 points) and Deon Thompson (18 points) were the top contributors for Malaga.

Gran Canaria – Obradoiro 75 – 85 

After winning ACB September MVP, Laurynas Birutis may be on a course to earn the award for October as well. The Lithuanian center had 19 points and 12 rebounds for 31 PIR and together with Kassius Robertson (21 points) pushed Obradoiro to the victory over Gran Canaria.

Stan Okoye and Jon Shurna scored in double figures for the hosts with 14 and 11 points and respectively.

Real Madrid – Estudiantes 93-77

Real Madrid got a comfortable win over Estudiantes but the highlight of the night was Felipe Reyes scoring his 6000th point in the Spanish League with the club.

Facundo Campazzo scored 15 and Trey Thompkins 14 points. For Estudiantes, John Roberson scored 15, Alessandro Gentile 13 and Aleksa Avramoviic 12 points.

Barcelona – MoraBanc Andorra 82-71

Nikola Mirotic returned to the court for Barcelona after recovering from the coronavirus and scored 14 points. Rolands Smits had 15 and Brandon Davies 12 points.

Nick Calathes scored two but also dished 12 assists. On the other side, Jeremy Senglin, Tyson Perez, and Haukur Palsson had ten points each.

San Pablo Burgos – UCAM Murcia 89-84

Alex Renfroe and Thad McFadden paced Burgos to a belated Round 7 victory against Murcia in a rescheduled game, adding 23 and 19 points each.

Conner Frankamp recorded 18 points for Murcia and DJ Strawberry tapped 16.
