UCAM Murcia announced that the team has reached an agreement with coach Sito Alonso for the 2021-22 campaign.
Alonso joined Murcia back in the January of 2019 as the club struggled to stay out of the relegation zone and the coach managed to keep them above for another Liga Endesa stint.
In the following season which ended prematurely due to the coronavirus pandemic, Alonso led Murcia to a 7-15 record while this past season, the team finished with 16-20, two wins behind the eighth seed that leads to the playoffs.
Prior to Murcia, Alonso coached Joventut, Gipuzkoa, Bilbao, Baskonia, Barcelona, and Cedevita. He had three stints in EuroLeague, reaching as far as the quarterfinals with Baskonia in 2017-18.
