Gran Canaria bounced back to wins in the Spanish ACB League by beating Baskonia 83 – 77 at home. While Gran Canaria climbed at 7-3 in Spain, this result marked the seventh defeat over the last eight games for Baskonia in both ACB and EuroLeague.

AJ Slaughter paced Gran Canaria with 22 points including a big 3-pointer for the 79 – 73 with a 1:10 to play. Khalifa Diop then threw down a dunk that put the hosts up by eight and at a distance that proved to be safe enough to lead them to win.

Baskonia was ahead 44 – 51 with four minutes to play in the third period but their opponents tied the game at 56 by the end of the quarter. A triple by Dylan Ennis made it 66-63 with five minutes and Gran Canaria never gave up its lead for the rest of the match.

Ennis finished with 15 points while Artem Pustovyi had 12 points plus seven rebounds and Chris Kramer scored 12 as well for Gran Canaria.

Simone Fontecchio (14 points, six rebounds), Jayson Granger (13 points, five assists) and Tadas Sedekerskis (12 points, 12 rebounds) were Baskonia’s top contributors. The Basque side was unable to recover from a blowout EuroLeague loss to Barcelona Thursday (11/7) and will look to snap its skid Tuesday (16/11) vs. Crvena Zvezda.
