Dzanan Musa scored 26 points and grabbed six rebounds as Rio Breogan beat Baskonia 89 – 83 at home to improve to 8 – 7 in the Spanish ACB League. The Lugo side is now one win away from the playoff spots and close to a potential return to the Copa Del Rey for the first time after 1995.
Musa – who finished with 4-6 2-pointers and 4-8 triples – produced 18 of his points in the first half when Breogan took a 50 – 47 lead. Baskonia went up 57 – 61 but the hosts completed the third period with a 12 – 1 run to regain the advantage. They never trailed and entered the last four minutes ahead 83 – 70 to stroll through the last stretch of the match.
Tyler Kalinoski contributed 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists in Breogan’s win while Rasid Mahalbasic had 14 points plus five rebounds.
Alec Peters (a season-high 17 points) and Wade Baldwin (15 points) stood out from Baskonia that dropped to 9 – 7 and the seventh spot in the standings.
