Barcelona beat Joventut Badalona 89 – 72 in Game 1 of the Spanish ACB League semifinals to enter the series in a strong fashion behind the contribution mainly of its big men.
Sertac Sanli had 16 points on 4-4 triples, Brandon Davies posted 13 points plus six rebounds and Nikola Mirotic added 11 points plus five boards for Barca. Sanli had eight of his points in the second period when the Blaugrana began building an advantage to close halftime up 40 – 31.
Davies took over with seven points in the third quarter that finished with his team ahead 69 – 48. Badalona kept trailing by around 20 points for the rest of the game.
Pau Ribas (11 points), Derek Willis (11 points) and Ante Tomic (10 points, seven rebounds) stood out from Joventut.
