Markus Howard set a new club record for Baskonia for most 3-pointers in a single game with nine and scored 34 points to lead his team to a 96 – 68 away win over Gran Canaria.

“I didn’t know about that,” said Howard when asked about breaking the previous record of eight triples for Baskonia. Velimir Perasovic, also a former Baskonia coach, set the record in 1994 while Saulius Stombergas and Igor Rakocevic tied it in 2001 and 2007 respectively. “All credit to my teammates. They helped me find in positions and trust me to play the way I play.”

It took Howard just 22:35 minutes to register those numbers. The American guard shot 9-12 triples and 2-4 2-pointers en route to recording the highest-scoring performance of his professional career so far.

“It has to do with whatever the game alls for. Tonight was one of those nights for me,” Howard also mentioned. “I got to hit my free throws though. That’s one of the first things I’m going to do when I return to Vitoria,” he added, referring to shooting 3-6 from the free-throw line.
