The EuroLeague side suffered a loss against Basquet Girona in the first game of the season in Spain

Visiting La Fonteta in the ACB League’s opener, Basquet Girona pulled the upset 89-85 win against Alex Mumbru’s team, getting the surprising victory against the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague participant.

For Salva Camps’ team, Ike Iroegbu finished the encounter as Basquet Girona’s highest scorer with 16 points, just like Gyorgy Goloman, who also added 4 rebounds. The veteran point guard Quino Colom led his team playmaking-wise with 8 points and 7 assists.

The backcourt duo of Chris Jones and Jared Harper combined for 29 points, but they weren’t sufficient for Valencia. Debuting for the Spanish side, Brandon Davies provided 13 points and 4 rebounds, while Stefan Jovic ended his game scoreless after 11:51 minutes on the domestic court.
