Spanish point guard’s first game in 651 days contributes to Real Madrid’s victory

Real Madrid returned to the winning track in the ACB League after Unicaja snapped its winning streak last week. However, the highlight of the game was the significant return of Carlos Alocen to the court.

Alocen played his first minutes in 21 months in a 85-76 victory over MoraBanc Andorra, improving Real Madrid‘s record to 10-1 in the domestic championship standings.

The talented 22-year-old point guard made his comeback after suffering a complete rupture in his left knee in February 2022. He spent seven and a half minutes on the court, scoring a point, with three rebounds and an assist.

Mario Hezonja led Chus Mateo’s side with 21 points and six rebounds, while Walter Tavares was on the verge of a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. Dzanan Musa added 14, and Fabien Causeru contributed 11 points for Real Madrid.

Jean Montero was the only player up to the task for the visiting team, scoring 25 points with six rebounds and five assists, but he was the only Andorra player in double digits.

Barcelona cruises past Girona scoring 115 points, Baskonia defeats Manresa

After suprising defeat to Murcia, Barcelona bounced back in domestic championship with a coinvincing 115-78 win over Basquet Girona.

Willy Hernangomez had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Dario Brizuela also scored 20 points for the winning side. Jabari Parker added 14, Alex Abrines and Oriol Pauli 12 points each, while Oscar Da Silva finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.

For the losing side Eric Vila Martinez had 17 and Sergi Martinez 10 points.

Dusko Ivanovic’s Baskonia got to a second consecutive victory in the ACB League, defeating Manresa 94-86 at Buesa Arena, with Chima Moneke scoring 23 and Matt Costello adding 17 points with nine rebounds.
