Recently parting ways with Givova Scafati, the 34-year-old guard Janis Strelnieks will now play for the first time in his 17-year career in Spain, having officially signed with Monbus Obradoiro. In Italy, he was averaging 10.7 points and 3.0 assists per game over nine appearances.

Emerging as a talented guard back with Brose Bamberg from 2014 to 2017, he then went on to play for Olympiacos, CSKA Moscow, Zalgiris Kaunas, AEK, and finally Scafati. He started his career with Latvian representative Ventpils back in 2007.

Being forced to miss the 2023 FIBA World Cup due to a long-time knee injury, the former CSKA Moscow and Zalgiris Kaunas shooting guard will come back playing with the Latvian national team in the upcoming 2025 FIBA EuroBasket Qualifiers, being called up by Luca Banchi.
