In episode 7 of Eurostep, Eurohoops Spain’s official podcast, Pau Ribas was the guest of Alex Molina and talked about the current events of the green-black club, starting with the European elimination against Paris Basketball.

As he said, before today’s changes on the bench, about Paris and also about his team: “They have been and are the best team in the Eurocup, they showed it in the regular league and the playoff. It is a difficult moment, which has hurt us, but the problem was not that match. We weren’t the team that we wanted and we met Paris earlier than we thought. If you play against the best team in the quarterfinals, your position is not the best. In the end, the two teams that have finished first in the regular league are the ones that will play in the final, the playoffs have done justice to the regular league.”

Despite a new European disappointment, the Catalan point guard believes that everyone should snap back to reality and remember what “Penya” means

As he added: “In recent seasons, we have managed to make people ignore the club we are and where we are. In the ACB League, there can be eight higher budgets, and we have made two consecutive semi-finals, in Europe I won’t even tell you what the budgets are like. We indeed have a history and prestige and we have to live with it, but in many moments I think that our level has made us forget how we are in the club and the budget we have. When things are done very well and the results come, people get used to it and it seems that it always has to be that way. This season is not going as we wanted, we have to be honest, always knowing where our goal is. We have jumped very high and we want to jump higher, but this is a process.”

Pau Ribas also spoke about Rudy Fernández, who recently announced that this will be his last season as a professional. Check out the whole episode (in Spanish)
