With Sergio Llull scoring 26 points, 17 of them in the third quarter of the game, Real Madrid edged Murcia 107 – 103 to make the 1-0 in the Liga Endesa quarterfinal series. Coach Katsikaris’ team made an impressive comeback from a 15-point deficit, but didn’t manage to complete it in the end.

It was a thrilling finale, one in which the Madridistas’ accuracy from the free throw line during the last seconds proved to be decisive. When Jose Antelo put his team back in the game for good, with a three-pointer for the 101-100 and only seconds to go, Murcia had an opportunity to even win the match, but their opponents were perfect on their free throw attempts, keeping their team safe.

On the other side, the best player of Murcia, a sensational Facu Campazzo (25 points, 9 assists), had 2/4 from the same spot during that period, something that eliminated his team’s chances to achieve a stunning victory.
