Gran Canaria extended its Spanish league winning streak to a highly impressive 8 – 0 by beating Barcelona 95 – 82 thanks to a phenomenal performance from the perimeter.

Coach Luis Casimiro’s players hit 16/28 3-pointers, a firepower that the Blaugrana couldn’t withstand. With this win Gran Canaria climbed to the third spot of the standings with a 18 – 8 record while Barcelona fell sixth at 17 – 8.

Five players scored in double figures for the winning squad. Pablo Aguilar had 14, Bo McCalebb and Kyle Kuric 13, Albert Oliver 11 (plus 7 assists) while Darko Planinic added 10.

Barcelona fell behind 29 – 18 at the end of the first quarter and never truly recovered despite the double-double of 19 points/14 rebounds by Ante Tomic and the season-high 19 points courtesy of captain Juan Carlos Navarro.

The Las Palmas squad was up by 19, 75 – 56, near the end of the third period and their opponents just managed to cut that deficit a bit in the fourth.
