Sergio Llull was a one-man orchestra tonight as Real Madrid beat Unicaja Malaga  71 – 68 to make the 1-0 in the series.

The 30-year-old guard scored 28 points, dished out 6 assists and grabbed 5 rebounds in 36 minutes, being the driving force of the “Blancos” against a tough Andalusian squad that had some pretty good chances to even steal the game.

Malaga was trailing 65 – 56 in the mid of the fourth period but came back to make it a one-possession game thanks to Nemanja Nedovic (18 points) and Alen Omic (12 points). Yet after the Serbian player made the 71 – 68 with 7 seconds remaining he and his teammates weren’t concentrated enough to make the foul that would stop the match and possibly give them a winning chance.

Apart from Llull, Gustavo Ayon finished with 13 points and 6 rebounds.
