Gipuzkoa Basket prevailed over them at home 71-63 in Spanish Liga Endesa Day 8. Unicaja now fell down to a 4-4 record and Gipuzkoa Basket moved to a 3-3.
Turning point: The home squad had a two-point lead with 2:30 left on the clock 62-60. Their defense was rock-solid in the decisive moments of the game as they allowed Unicaja to score just 3 points in the last two minutes seconds.
It was a slow-paced game which suited better to the hosts as they had more focus down the last stretch. The visitors were off to the solid start as they won the first quarter 21-17. After that, it was Gipuzkoa who was in the charge thanks to their defense.
The stars: Norel Henk had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds followed by Dan Clark with 14 points. For the losing side, Carlos Suarez had 14 points along with him Sasu Salin scored 11. Those two players were the only one scoring double figures for Unicaja.
In the last match of the Day 8 of the ACB League, the stunning “el clasico”, Barcelona beat Real Madrid on the road becoming the first team to beat Real this season.
Earlier in the day, Marco Popovic saved the day for Fuenlabrada, while Green got Valencia back on the winning track.
