We’re going to have a “Clasico” in the Spanish Copa Del Rey Final this season for the first time since 2015.

After Real Madrid defeated Iberostar Tenerife in the first semifinal, Barcelona also punched the ticket to the title game with a 87 – 74 victory over tournament hosts Gran Canaria.

Thomas Heurtel had one more beautiful game for the Blaugrana with a double-double of 13 points plus 14 (!) assists in less than 29 minutes while, like in the quarterfinal, Pierre Oriola was an X-factor for the winning squad with 14 points.

An outstanding exhibition courtesy of Marcus Eriksson (25 points, 6 rebounds) wasn’t enough for Gran Canaria that got overwhelmed in the second half.

After leading 43 – 41 at the break thanks to Eriksson’s 17 points (5/6 3-pointers), the team from Las Palmas was forced to only 13 points by Barca that proceeded to drop 27 in order to enter the final period up 68 – 56.

Coach Svetislav Pesic’s players never looked back afterward and easily preserved a safe advantage to reach the win and the Final.
