Despite starting the game off well in the first half, Valencia could not overcome Real Madrid‘s obstacle. Led by Tibor Pleiss, the visitors had an eight-point lead at half-time (38-45), shooting 53% from the field. In the third period, however, the hosts gained the lead with a 22-9 run (60-54). The game ended 83-71, as Anthony Randolph finished with 13 points and seven rebounds. Luka Doncic played 27 minutes and scored 10 points.
Real Betis’ game vs. Unicaja Malaga went down to the wire, with both teams hitting big shots down the stretch, in the final two minutes. Ryan Kelly’s shot with 35 seconds to go, put Betis up one (87-86), but Nemanja Nedovic hit two clutch free-throws and Malaga re-gained the lead (87-88). With 12 seconds left, Blake Schilb (25 pts) scored the most crucial basket of the night, and Real Betis got the win (89-88).
Also, Baskonia, had a comfortable night, blowing out Fuenlabrada at home, while Barcelona got a close call against Obradoiro.
Earlier on Sunday (25/03), Estudiantes and Zaragoza had great afternoons at home, easily defeating San Pablo Burgos and Bilbao respectively. Movistar scored 100 points, as Sylven Landesberg led the way with 26.
In what was a great game to watch, Gran Canaria defeated MoraBanc Andorra 99-95 thanks to Eulis Báez’s efficient night (22 pts / 7/8 2p.).
On Saturday (24/03), Kostas Vasileiadis led Tenerife past Badalona, to stay in the playoff race.
