Baskonia beats Gran Canaria in Perasovic’s debut

Velimir Perasovic started his third stint with Baskonia well as they beat Gran Canaria in front of the home crowd.

In the first game this season with Velimir Perasovic as the head coach, Baskonia broke the resistance of Gran Canaria with a strong second quarter and recorded a 91-76 home win on Day 9 of Spanish League.

Luca Vildoza and Tornike Shengelia scored 16 points each for the winner while the latter also added five rebounds and assists for a total value of 22. Darrun Hilliard and Matt Janning helped with 15 points each.

For Gran Canaria, D.J. Strawberry scored 14 points in addition to Kim Tillie and Oriol Pauli’s 10 points each.

The guests had a minimal lead after ten minutes (23-22) but Baskonia took over completely in the crucial second period (29-13) going on the halftime with a 51-36 advantage. They kept their distance around the same margin (71-58) and safely closed the game in their favor.

Baskonia improved to 7-2 while Gran Canaria holds a 2-7 record now.
