Tenerife gambled away a big first-half lead but still managed to grab a home win against Baskonia in Spanish League.

Iberostar Tenerife gambled away a big first-half lead but kept the cool and came out on top 70-63 against Kirolbet Baskonia on Day 12 of Spanish League.

Javier Beiran led the victors 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists in addition to Ferran Bassas’ 12 points. For Baskonia, Tornike Shengelia registered a double-double by scoring game-high 18 points along with ten rebounds while Matt Janning added 14 points.

Tenerife dominated the first quarter 24-8 and went on the halftime rest with an even bigger lead (45-24). Baskonia ‘woke up’ after the break almost halving the deficit in the third quarter (55-42) and getting dangerously close near the end of the game (62-60). However, Tenerife nailed two shots from deep for an 8-0 run and secured the game.

Tenerife improved to 7-5 getting closer to Baskonia which now holds a 9-3 record.
