ACB bottom-placed Breogan registered one huge win over defending champion Real Madrid, taking down the powerhouse 84 – 71 at home in a manner much easier than was the final score implies.

Breogan was up 73 – 47 (!) at the beginning of the fourth period and the game was marching towards a rout. Real managed to reduce that deficit thanks to consecutive 3-pointers but couldn’t make a complete comeback.

This was the third loss in 12 games for Real Madrid that was without guard Facu Campazzo, forward Anthony Randolph and forward/center Gustavo Ayon for resting reasons, ahead of a double-game EuroLeague week. Breogan just notched its third victory of the season to improve to 3-9.
