Matt Thomas scored 10 out of his 20 points (4/7 triples) in the fourth quarter, helping Valencia beat Zaragoza 89 – 74 to improve its Spanish ACB League record to 9 – 5.
Zaragoza dropped to 7 – 7 and below the playoff zone.
Valencia was particularly potent in long-range shots, completing the game with 14/28 from downtown. It was also a 3-point outbreak in the fourth quarter that helped them win the match.
Zaragoza was up 64 – 65 with eight minutes left to play but then Valencia “erupted” with five 3-pointers and a 21 – 4 run that pretty much decided the outcome.
Stan Okoye had 17 points plus six boards for Zaragoza. From Valencia’s side, Mike Tobey posted a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds while Fernando San Emeterio scored 13.
