Real Madrid now shifts its attention to the challenge of making the repeat.

Edy Tavares posted a double-double of 17 points/11 rebounds and blocked his opponents seven (!) times, as Real Madrid defeated Zaragoza 85 – 70 in Round 32 of the Spanish ACB League regular season.

This win improved Real Madrid to 26 – 6 and kept them at the top of the standings. Zaragoza is sixth with a 17 – 5.

Zaragoza had recovered from a 15-point deficit they suffered early in the second half to tie the game 58 – 58 early in the fourth period. Real, however, reacted and took a double-digit lead once more 64 – 74 with 3:41 remaining. They never looked back.

Latavious Williams had 12 points and six rebounds and Carlos Alocen 10 points for the hosts.

Anthony Randolph contributed 12 points and seven rebounds to Real’s winning effort.
