The Spanish ACB League playoffs began with a kind of a bang. Zaragoza beat title contender Baskonia 91 – 81 on the road and claimed a 1-0 advantage in the best-of-three quarterfinal series.

Stan Okoye led Zaragoza to this triumph by scoring 21 points and dishing out seven assists. Renaldas Seibutis added 16 points and six boards for the winning squad.

Jayson Granger and Vincent Poirier scored 21 points apiece for Baskonia that was overwhelmed by Zaragoza in the first half, never to recover. After overpowering their opponents 14 – 26 in the second period, Zaragoza went to a locker with a 34 – 50 advantage and retained control for the remainder of the match.

Zaragoza can advance to the semifinals with a win at home Sunday (2/6).
