Real Madrid captain Felipe Reyes entered the court with five minutes remaining in Game 2 of the Spanish ACB League semifinals between his team and Valencia to make his 1000th appearance with the jersey of the “Blancos”.

He stayed in for the remainder of the match as Real took a 79 – 66 win and the 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

Sergio Llull (13 points), Trey Thompkins (11 points), Jeff Taylor (10 points) and Gustavo Ayon (10 points, eight rebounds, four assists) set the tone for a Real squad that controlled most aspects of the game following the first 15 minutes.

Valencia was leading 24-34 halfway through the second period but their opponents answered with an 18 – 2 run to go up 42 – 36 at halftime. Real kept pushing after the break to establish a double-digit lead.

With six minutes left, Jaycee Carroll put the hosts up 77 – 58. There was no way back from this deficit for Valencia.

Mike Tobey (12 points, five rebounds), Bojan Dubljevic (12 points) and Will Thomas (10 points, eight rebounds) were the top contributors for Valencia. The “Taronja” will look to bounce back in Game 3 Monday (10/6).
