Alexis Tsipras addressed the racist remarks made against Thanasis Antetokounmpo.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras wrote a message of support to Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo following the racist remarks made about the latter on television.

“Respect and pride for the people that were born and raised here, making Greece their own country. No tolerance to racism and hate,” Tsipras wrote on his official Instagram page. The post included a picture of Tsipras wearing Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Greek national team jersey.

Following the latest EuroLeague game between Panathinaikos and Olympiacos, Thanasis Antetokounmpo was the recipient of racist comments made by a well known Olympiacos fan during a show he co-hosts on Greek television.

The Greek Helsinki monitor and also the secretary general for Transparency and Human Rights have filed a suit for this case.
