Bayern Munich center Greg Monroe won’t be returning to Germany to play in the BBL League’s final 10-team tournament, his club announced. The former NBAer will have to remain in New Orleans, USA due to a family illness issue and thus miss the games for the conclusion of the season.

Before the season’s suspension, Monroe averaged team-highs 13.2 points and 5.5 rebounds plus 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals in 21:01 minutes over 19 games the German League.

Monroe’s absence is the second major loss that Bayern Munich will have to cope with following the one of guard Nihad Djedovic. The latter will be out due to a persistent injury.

Bayern also announced the acquisition of guard Ismet Akipnar who joins the team for the BBL tournament.
