In a game full of ups and downs, EWE Baskets Oldenburg came out on top against Brose Bamberg for an 86-81 advantage in front of Game 2 of the German League Tournament quarterfinals.

Rasid Mahalbasic once again proved his value by filling up the stats with 19 points, ten rebounds, five assists and a block. Rickey Paulding banked 20 and Nathan Boothe 15 points.

“The first half was tops, the second half was a flop. But we can be happy about going back to the hotel with a five-point victory,” Mahalbasic said.

Elias Harris, on the other side, wasn’t happy at all with Bamberg‘s first-half performance: “The whole thing could have been a lot worse. Oldenburg let us back into the game. The first half was a disaster. It was more ego ball than team basketball and it resulted in the deficit.”

Harris had a great shooting night with game-high 24 points followed by Jordan Crawford with 15 and Retin Obasohan with ten points.

Alba Berlin had a much easier time in its Game 1 against BC Gottingen, recording a convincing 93-68 victory despite Gottingen winning the fourth quarter 28-12.

Peyton Siva led the way with 15 points and six assists while Tyler Cavanaugh added 13 in addition to Luke Sikma and Niels Giffey’s 11 points each. Sikma also logged six boards and four steals.
