Bayreuth edged Bayern in the German Cup opening round

Medi Bayreuth prevailed over Bayern in the opening round of the German Cup group stage on Sunday, while ALBA’s scheduled game against Braunschweig has been postponed due to safety concerns.

Bayern – medi bayreth 89-95

Frank Bartley scored 25 points and Osvaldas Olisevicius had 12 points to lead Bayreuth to their first win. Bayern had multiple players scoring in double digits, with Paul Zipser leading the way with 18 points. Robin Amaize added 14 and Nick Weiler-Babb scored 13.

BG Göttingen – Fraport Skyliners 79-64

Jorge Gutierrez and Tai Odiase paced Gottingen with 14 points apiece, while Jon Gudmundsson tapped 20 points for the Skyliners.

MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg – s.Oliver Würzburg 78-67

Barry Brown Jr and Elias Harris both shared 18 points in MHP Riesen’s first victory, as Jalen Smith had a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds. Short-staffed Wurzburg had Tayler Persons and Cameron Hunt scoring in double digits with 12 and 11 points each.

SYNTAINICS MBC – HAKRO Merlins Crailsheim 99-97

Shavon Coleman tapped a team-high performance of 27 points for the winning side, followed by Michal Michalak who posted 24. On the opposing end, Trae Bell-Haynes also recorded 27 points along with 8 assists and six rebounds.

Telekom Baskets Bonn – EWE Baskets Oldenburg 90-76

Leon Kratzer scored 21 points along with 7 boards for the winners, while Chris Babb and Josh Hagins added 14 points each. EWE Basket’s Rasid Mahalbasic finished the game with 20 points, as Sebastian Herrera had 12 points.

RASTA Vechta – JobStairs GIESSEN 46ers 99-85

Jean Salumu and Philip Herkenhoff tapped 20 points for Vechta, Will Voorhes added 18 points and seven boards. Brandon Thomas led Giessen with 19 points and Liam O’Rilley scored 16.

ratiopharm ulm – Brose Bamberg 65-74

Bamberg reached its first victory paced by Tyler Larson’s 16-point performance. Michele Vitaly added 15, David Kravish finished the game with 13 points and Kenneth Ogbe posted 10.

Ulm’s Troy Caupain and Andreas Obst were the only players in double digits with 14 and 13 points respectively.
