Bayern and Alba start the German playoffs with convincing wins

Bayern and Alba got the job done in openres while Parker Jackson-Cartwright and Javontae Hawkins stole the spotlight in Bonn’s close overtime win against Hamburg in the German playoffs

Both Bayern Munich and Alba Berlin got convincing wins at the start of the German league playoffs while Telekom Baskets Bonn and Hamburg Towers put on a show with the former snatching an overtime victory.

Deshaun Thomas scored 15 points in Bayern’s 77-53 win over Chemnitz while Nick Weiler-Babb had 13 and Andreas Obst ten points. On the opposing side, Mindaugas Susinskas and Nelson Weidemann had nine each.

Alba was even more convincing than Bayern with a 114-89 win against Brose Bamberg. Johannes Thiemann scored 19 followed by Jaleen Smith who scored 16 and Oscar Da Silva who scored 15 points.

Omar Prewitt had 17 for Bamberg and Chris Dowe helped with 14.

Last but definitely not least, Bonn secured a 100-98 victory after overtime thanks to a game-winning three-pointer by Javontae Hawkins in the final second.

Hawkins finished the match with 22 points but it was Parker Jackson-Cartwright who dominated the scoring sheet with 36 points while also adding eight assists and four rebounds. Saulius Kulvetis scored 16.

Hamburg held up its own led by Jaylon Brown with 27, Maik Kostar with 21 and Caleb Homesley with 20 points.
