German Cup is well underway. We already have four teams in the semifinals. Alba Berlin, Bayern, Oldenburg, and Ludwigsburg all won in the quarterfinals.
After a big comeback in the fourth quarter, Oldenburg is the first semifinalist in the German Cup. In a nail-biter, they managed to defeat Heidelberg 85-83. DeWayne Russell played a great game scoring 28 points and leading his team to victory. Eric Washington added 21 points in a losing effort.
Bayern had no problem getting to the semifinals. Coach Trinchieri’s squad won easily against Bayreuth 80-63. After a slow first quarter, Bayern exploded in the second quarter scoring 34 points that got the job done. Andreas Obst led the way with 16 points, Paul Zipser added 14, and Ognjen Jaramaz finished the game with 11 points.
Alba on the other hand had a tough time against Bonn. The away team almost got a big upset. T.J. Shorts scored 36 points but it was not enough at the end 98-95. Tamir Blatt scored 23 points for Alba.
The team from Berlin will have a chance to defend the Cup they won last year.
