Bayer Munich started the quarterfinal series against Gottingen with a win

One down, two more to go. Bayern Munich opened the best-of-five quarterfinal series of the German Basketball Bundesliga with a convincing 87-67 win over Gottingen.

Nick Weiler-Babb led Andrea Trinchieri’s team with 15 points, Cassius Winston added 13, while Zylan Cheatham was a rebound shy of a double-double with 12 points.

Isaac Bonga and Niels Giffay scored 10 points each, with the latter grabbing eight boards.

Mark Smith was the top scorer for the losing side with 16 points, Rayshaun Hammonds added 13, and Geno Crandall 12, while Till Pape finished with 11 points and five rebounds.

Previously, Alba lost to Ulm at home, while Riesen Ludwigsburg defeated Oldenburg on the road 80-90, despite Dewayne Russel scoring 31 points for the hosts.

Yorman Bartolo led the winning side with 24 points, six rebounds, and three assists.

Champions League winner Telekom Baskets Bonn is yet to face Chemnitz in the quarterfinals (17/05).
