FC Bayern Munich and ALBA Berlin both improved to 3-1 in Germany’s easyCredit BBL Regular Season on Sunday. They trail defending champion ratiopharm Ulm by one game.

Pablo Laso’s side dominated Hakro Merlins Crailsheim for the win, 97-62, on the road. Eclipsing his season total in points, Croatian center Danko Brankovic shared a game-high 16 points with teammate Sylvain Francisco and Brandon Childress of the hosts. Vladimir Lucic (hand) remained on Bayern’s injury list, joined by Nick Weiler-Babb, Niels Giffey, Serge Ibaka, and Devin Booker sitting out the Round 4 fixture.

Earlier, the Berlin outfit overcame a sluggish start with a 98-80 victory versus Rasta Vechta at home. Promising Italian combo guard Matteo Spagnolo stood out with 18 points and five assists for the team coached by Israel Gonzalez. Matt Thomas resting joined injured teammates Yanni Wetzell (ankle), Marcus Eriksson (foot), and Khalifa Koumadje (knee) on the sidelines.

Saint Mary’s product Tommy Kuhse scored a game-high 22 points but was not enough for a stunning 4-0 start for the team based in Lower Saxony. Thanks to the 94-78 victory opposite Veolia Towers Hamburg on Saturday, Ulm was left as the lone undefeated team.
