Second consecutive defeat in the BBL for ALBA, fifth in both competitions

ALBA Berlin underwent almost a complete overhaul during the summer, forming a young core, but is struggling at the start of the season.

After going 1-9 in the first 10 rounds of the EuroLeague, Israel Gonzales’ team faced another setback in the domestic championship, suffering a second consecutive defeat to Ludwigsburg on the road, with a score of 87-79.

Not even another brilliant performance from Johannes Thiemann helped ALBA, despite the 2023 FIBA World Cup winner scoring 29 points with seven rebounds.

The Italian duo followed him, with Gabriele Procida scoring 14 points and Matteo Spagnolo contributing 13 points, as ALBA fell to 6-3 in the Bundesliga.

They couldn’t cope with Desre Buie’s 25 points, while Jayvon Graves followed him with 10 points, six rebounds, and six assists.

ALBA is now tied with Bayern Munich and several other teams, as Pablo Laso’s side grabbed an 81-85 win over Vechta on the road to improve to 6-3.

Carsen Edwards had 24 points, while Devin Booker added 17 with seven boards. Sylvain Francisco scored 13, and Elias Harris added 11 points.

For Vechta, Tommy Kuhse had 20 points with seven assists and six rebounds, while Ryan Schwieger followed him with 15 points. Joel Sadu Aminu and Spencer Reaves added 10 points each.
