A huge home win for Rasta Vechta to slow down FC Bayern Munich after six straight wins across all competitions

Pulling away in the third quarter and leading in double-digits through the last ten minutes, Rasta Vechta prevailed, 79-65, over FC Bayern Munich on Sunday.

Making 9/15 field goals, Jayden Gardner recorded a game-high 19 points, fueling a huge win for the team coached by Martin Schiller to go up to 11-7. On the wrong end, Carsen Edwards scored a team-high 17 points with his side falling to 12-5.

The Munich-based club was coming off six straight wins between Germany’s easyCredit BBL Regular Season and the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. Besides injured Devin Booker (knee), Vladimir Lucic, Shabazz Napier, and Nick Weiler-Babb did not suit up in the Round 20 fixture. Only 11 players were available for head coach Gordon Herbert.

Fellow EuroLeague participant, ALBA Berlin routed Veolia Towers Hamburg, 92-77. Matt Thomas and David McCormack piled up 22 and 16 points, respectively. The team located in the capital of Germany matched the Towers at 8-10.

With Martin Hermannsson returning to action and packing four points and seven assists in just under 15 minutes, Louis Olinde was ruled out due to illness, joining Justin Bean (wrist) and Gabriele Procida (back) on the sidelines. Also, Matteo Spagnolo did not play for the team guided by Israel Gonzalez.
