ALBA Berlin completed a stunning comeback to beat Bayern Munich on the road in Game 5 of the German Basketball Bundesliga Finals.

The Berlin club won the series 3-2, taking the decisive fifth game 84-81. Bayern head coach Svetislav Pešić, who had announced this would be the final season of his coaching career, failed to end it with a championship.

Bayern looked set to lift the trophy after building a 66-53 lead, but ALBA opened the fourth quarter with a 14-0 run to swing the game. The visitors then held on in a tense finish.

Justin Bean posted 18 points and 12 rebounds for ALBA, while Jonas Mattisseck also scored 18 points. Malte Delow added 14.

Andreas Obst led Bayern with 24 points. Oscar Da Silva had 12 points and Vladimir Lučić finished with 10.

The championship is ALBA Berlin’s 12th overall and its first since 2022.
