MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg didn’t let the losses in Basketball Champions League Final Four stagger them and recorded a 104-85 victory at home against medi Bayreuth in the first game of German League quarterfinals series.

The hosts came into the game focused and set on finishing things early. After ten minutes of play, they were in front by a double-digit margin (34-19). Bayreuth tried to come back as they decreased the deficit to ten points (53-43) before the halftime break but couldn’t complete a comeback. Ludwigsburg won both periods in the second half increasing the lead little by little and bringing the game to a close.

Elgin Cook led the victors with game-high 25 points in addition to Thomas Walkup’s 19 points. On the other side, Gabe York’s 20 points weren’t enough to change the outcome.

Game 2 will be played on Saturday 12th of May as Bayreuth tries to bounce back in front of their crowd.
