Oldenburg and Alba get wins, clinch second and third spot

Oldenburg won over Bamberg and secured the second spot while Alba beat Bonn and sealed the third spot of the German League standings.

Despite Tyrese Rice’s big performance, EWE Baskets Oldenburg grabbed a 93-86 road win over Brose Bamberg in postponed Day 32 game of German League. With this win, Oldenburg (27-5) secured the second spot of the standings while Bamberg (20-12) stayed at the 5th spot.

Will Cummings led the victors with 23 points followed by Nathan Boothe with 18 and Rickey Paulding with 15 points. For Bamberg, Rice nailed 33 points on 9-13 shooting from deep in addition to Augustine Rubit’s 19 points.

Earlier the same day, Alba Berlin beat Telekom Baskets Bonn 110-98 in the postponed Day 16 game and secured the third spot with a 25-7 record. Bonn is 7th with a 17-5 record.

Joshiko Saibou scored 15 points for Alba which had seven double-digit scorers followed by Luke Sikma’s 14 and Rokas Giedraitis’ 13 points. On the other side, Bojan Subotic banked 22 and Charles Jackson 20 points.
