In the aftermath of a second consecutive magical Euroleague season for Olympiacos, the coach of the team, Giorgos Bartzokas, was awarded with the “Alexander Gomelskiy Coach of the Year” by Europe’s top competition.

It’s one more recognition for the work of 48 years old coach who has a full resume of a 21 years career in every possible level of Greek basketball and now sits on top of Europe. Coach Bartzokas who is expected to extend his contract for Olympiacos at least until the summer of 2015 – he is already under contract until 2014 – made the following comment for this honor: “In our chosen sport, obviously what counts is the team’s trophies, but for sure an individual honor like this brings great joy and gives strength. I would like to dedicate this award to Olympiacos; presidents who chose me and gave me the opportunity to coach all those amazing players and also my stuff for their great work”.
