Nick Calathes is back in Greece, in order to start practicing with the Greek national team despite the fact that it’s still uknown if he is eligible for the upcoming FIBA World Cup, and he met with Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos.
Calathes is considered by the club the possible heir of Dimitris Diamantidis. Despite the fact that he will spend next season in the NBA, as a player of Memphis, Panathinaikos will be waiting for him to be a free agent and lure him back to Athens. And as Calathes himself said: “I’m very happy that I found myself again in the environment of Panathinaikos, and also to meet and talk with Mr. Dimitris Giannakopoulos. We have to tell the truth: Right now my goal is to play as well as possible in the NBA, but it is certain that when I return to Europe I will play only for Panathinaikos’.
