Shawn James was recently released by Maccabi Tel Aviv, despite being the captain of the team and also two more years of contract. However EA7 Milano was ready to snatch him and the Italian champions announced their two years deal with the American center.
James missed most of last season due to injury, however he felt unwanted in Maccabi Tel Aviv for a long time. As he said in a recent interview in Israeli portal “Sport5”: “The person who trusted me is no longer part of Maccabi”. Of course he ment former coach David Blatt who has a special relationship with him, as you can understand from an older Eurohoops interview of James.
It remains to be seen next season if James can enjoy simular success under coach Banchi and if his paths cross again with Maccabi, something more than possible, it will be a must see game.
