Eleven former players of Panionios, including legendary forward Fanis Christodoulou, issued a press release about the situation of the club, asking the owner and president, Ilias Lianos, to do everything on his power even in the 11th hour, in order to save Panionios from playing to the amateur leagues. The text is the following:
Panionios is the club that made us and has a long, special history in Greek sports. Ilias Lianos is a part of this history and in this crucial point, he must lead the team out of this dead end, even in the last moment.
It’s a given that every fan of Panionios will support the team in any possible way, if the club manages to stay in the top league.
