It was a night of goodbyes for Siena its former glories. As it turned out, however, the new era of the team will not be so bad after all. The Italian champions retired the jerseys of their former captain Shaun Stonerook (no 20) and their former star point guard Terrell MacIntyre (no 5). That would be enough for the city to celebrate, but the night was holding one more pleasant surprise.

Siena beat 89-61 Fenerbahce/ Ulker which has in its bench Simone Pianigiani and on the court Bo McCalebb and Romain Sato. Nobody expected such a vast point difference between the two opponents, even though former Siena coach Pianigiani was absent until now from the training camp of his new team, due to his duties as Italian national team coach. McCalebb and Sato are also former Siena stars. Matt Janning was a revelation for the winning side, scoring 21 points.

Also in Italy, Olympiacos beat Dinamo Sassari 106-87 in an its first preparation game for this season which ended at the 38th minute. As you can see in the video the reason for that is a thunderous dunk by Joey Dorsey, which broke the backboard. Georgios Printezis with 19 points and Martynas Gecevicius with 18 were the top scorers of the Euroleague champs.
